A Library of Things is a place where you can borrow tools, equipment, and other items instead of buying them. It’s a practical way to save money, reduce waste, and share resources within a community.


Who can borrow from the Library of Things?

The North Somerset Library of Things is exclusively for community groups based in North Somerset. If your group is registered, you can borrow items for your projects and events.


What items are available to borrow?

We currently have a small but growing selection of items, including:

  • Clothing rails.
  • Tables.
  • Gazebo.
  • Projector screen.
  • Party kit.


How much does it cost to borrow items?

Borrowing is free or low-cost, depending on the item. Any fees are used to maintain and replace equipment.


How do I borrow items?

  1. Register your community group with us.
  2. Browse our online catalog to find what you need.
  3. Reserve the item(s) and choose a collection date.
  4. Pick up the item(s), use them for your project, and return them as agreed.


How long can I keep the items?

Loan periods vary depending on the item and availability. Typically, you can borrow items for 1–2 weeks, but this can be extended by arrangement.


What happens if something gets damaged or lost?

We understand accidents happen. Please let us know as soon as possible if an item is damaged or lost. We may ask for a contribution toward repair or replacement costs.


Can I donate items to the Library of Things?

Yes! If you have equipment, or other items in good condition that could be useful to community groups, please get in touch.

We’re based in Yatton and Nailsea, North Somerset. Exact details will be provided when you make a reservation.
